Operation Shield Leads to More Than 150 Arrests in Columbus

The Columbus Dispatch reports that Columbus police arrested 163 people over the weekend as part of “Operation Shield.”

“Operation Shield” was a joint law enforcement effort involving Franklin County deputy sheriffs, Columbus police, state troopers and the U.S. Marshals Service.  The effort focused on the part of the Franklin County south of I-70.

More than 2,200 cars were stopped–60 percent resulted in traffic citations, from OVI to driving under suspension to seat belt violations.   Seventy two people were arrested on felony charges and 91 were arrested on misdemeanor charges.
